"...and the Journey Begins!!!"
Welcome to the blog. Here you will find information on my current work-in-progress, up-coming shows where you can view my work, listen to my rants while in the midst of "creative angst" and, in general, find things that won't fit on my main website. I hope you enjoy the journey!

It's Been a Long Time... but I'm Back!
I know I haven't posted to this blog for quite awhile, so I think it time that I get back into the swing of things.
This past weekend I attended the AFIC (Artistic Figures in Cloth) Conference in Columbus,OH where I taught 3 classes on patterning authentic historical costumes for dolls. I must say the experience was fantastic!!! I had the best students that any teacher could wish for. You all know who you are - huggz to all.
I met many wonderful new people there, too. And some new opportunities were presented to me. Aside from inquiries about my teaching at other conferences and doll clubs, and a couple of invitations to exhibit my work fiber arts conventions, I have been asked to write several tutorial CDs. Wow, how exciting!! I am hoping to have the first ones available about mid-summer of this year. They will be available on-line from Dollmakers Journey at dollmakersjourney.com.It's Been a long time... If you are not familiar with Dollmakers Journey, look them up on-line. Maryann and Bonnie are just great. They have a HUGE selection of supplies, patterns books and so much more. Delivery is super fast. And they publish a monthly newsletter that is both informative and entertaining. Simply a great company to deal with.
Well, all that being said, I guess I had better get to work on those new tutorials. Mid-summer will be here before I know it (if it ever stops raining - lol).
Cheers, everyone!

WOW - It has Finally Happened!!!
In doing my weekly checks of important (at least to me) websites, I see that the ODACA site has finally been updated to showcase the new members inducted in 2010. Yipee... I've finally made it!!! To view the new listings, click on the "Artists Directory" link at www.odaca.org.
You might also be interested to know that the Annual Gallery Show and Sale of the RiverCity Figurative Artist's Guild is coming up. The dates are Nov. 13 & 14. You can find more info about the show at guild's Blog. I hope you will have a chance to stop by the show. We have a new venue this year - The Kennedy Heights Art Center on Montgomery Rd. - that is very exciting.
Cheers!!!

Time Sure Flies... even if one is not having fun!!!
WOW! It's October already and there is so much to do. The Annual Gallery Show and Sale for the RiverCity Figurative Artists' Guild will be here before I know it. Everyone in the Guild is excited about the new venue - the Kennedy Heights Art Center. It is a great space! Plenty of free parking and easy to find - just a mile or two south of Kenwood Mall on Montgomery Rd. (see previous post for dates and hours).
For those of you who might be interested, RiverCity Figurative Artists' Guild meets the 3rd Saturday of the month, 11:00am, at the KHAC. You can always find the latest info on the monthly meetings in the guild's blog.
Now, I must get back to work on my latest piece, "El brujo viejo", which I want to have ready for the November show.
Cheers!

"... the Ladies Love Their Hats!"
Just as the ladies of yesteryear loved their hats, modern doll collectors love their doll pins! After much persuading by some of the members of the RiverCity Figurative Artists' Guild, I have finally tired my hand at creating some doll pins. They are inspired by illustrations from 19th century ladies magazines and represent ladies hats and headresses from various periods. The first of the series shows one of the lacy confections popular among the fashionistas of the 1830s.

"...the Little Jobs Never End!!!"
Today I finally finished updating my website (I hope). All of the new items have been photographed and the images have been photoshopped, scaled and uploaded. And most of the broken links fixed. I really need to do this more often, then the job wouldn't seem so daunting!
